Hey, I’m Cheyne

Bald man with red beard wearing a light-colored button-up shirt standing against a textured off-white wall.

I’m a Registered Counsellor based in Cape Town. I’m passionate about creating a safe, non-judgemental space where people can explore their experiences, gain insight, and develop tools for meaningful change.

I believe that every individual has the capacity for growth when supported with empathy, respect, and understanding. I aim to meet clients where they are, working together to navigate challenges such as stress, anxiety, self-esteem, or life transitions.

My Approach

Collaborative

My approach to counselling is collaborative and person-centred — I believe that every individual has the capacity for growth when supported with empathy, respect, and understanding. I aim to meet clients where they are, working together to navigate challenges such as stress, anxiety, self-esteem, or life transitions.

Evidence-Based

I draw on evidence-based approaches grounded in psychological research and practice, including elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based techniques, and positive psychology. This means that the strategies we use in sessions are guided by methods shown to be effective in improving well-being and resilience.

  • Once you have enquired about starting counselling, we start with an initial session that briefly goes over where you are now and where you have come from. Following this we will work together to decide on a plan of action for counselling, establishing goals and a timeline for working towards them. Sessions will then generally be once a week and once we near the end of our timeline we will again work together to see where you are in your process and if it may be a good idea to continue or take a pause.
